Many years ago
I was maybe three
I fell down, skinned my knee
Hurt so bad i started to cry
Mama, she came to me
Picked me up
Kissed my knee
Then comforted me with mama’s warm hugs
Warm hugs, Mama’s warm hugs
The kind that feel like Heaven above
If i was hurt or feeling blue
She always knew what to do
She’d comfort me with mama’s warm hugs
Remembering back when i was ten
Lost my dog, my best friend
I felt so sad i didn’t know what to do
Mama, she came to me
Said son he’ll be back
Wait and see
Then comforted me with mama’s warm hugs
Warm hugs, Mama’s warm hugs
The kind that feel like Heaven above
If i was sad or feeling blue
She always knew what to do
She’d comfort me with mama’s warm hugs
Then came the time of leaving home
Off to college, on my own
The fear inside i thought i couldn’t bare
Mama, she came to me
Said son, you’ll be ok, you’ll see
Then comforted me with mama’s warm hugs
Warm hugs, Mama’s warm hugs
The kind that feel like Heaven above
If i was scared or feeling blue
She always knew what to do
She’d comfort me with mama’s warm hugs
Mama’s hugs were all so warm and caring
That’s how we know they came from up above
So if you’re feeling down and oh so weary
It’s one of God’s ways to show us that we’re loved
One day the Son of man
Came to lead her to the promise land
There sitting by her side
I wanted her to stay
But she said son i must be leaving now
And i wiped the tears from her brow
And returned to her one of mama’s warm hugs
